DRAW ME A STORY

A PICTURE IS WORTH 1,000 WORDS

Why play this way?

Turning the pages of Chalk likely made your child feel like a real reader. Now, they’ll experience the thrill of becoming an author and illustrator as well! This creative play boosts confidence while strengthening literacy and fine motor skills. As they joyfully draw pictures and create corresponding stories, your little one will express their ideas both visually and verbally. Best of all, these special recorded stories will be wholly theirs to share & enjoy again and again.

Set

Like the author of Chalk, you will tell a wordless story by drawing your own pictures.

Think about if you want to make up a brand new story using your imagination, or tell about something that’s already happened.

You can practice storytelling using these pictures as inspiration.

Play!

Get started drawing your own wordless story and consider:

  • Who (or what) is your story about?
  • Where does your story take place?
  • What happens in your story?
  • How does your story end?
  • What details can you add to help tell the story?

When you’re ready, hit record and use your pictures to generate a corresponding narrative.

Hit play to listen to your new read-aloud.

Return to your picture at a later date, and tell your story anew!

  • Change up some of the details as you look at your original illustration with fresh eyes.

Over time, you will amass a collection of recordings that show your evolution as a storyteller.
