let’s learn!

Letter S Freeze Dance

Grab a stack of Post-its, index cards, or small scraps of paper and write a letter on each one. You can include any letters you want, but be sure to write the letter S on at least 5 of them.

Spread the letters all around the room.

Then, hit play on this LᐧMᐧNᐧOᐧPlay!List and dance around until the music is paused.

When the music stops, everyone must find and touch a letter S.

Now, press play again, and repeat!

Check out this L•M•N•O•Play! List

Shimmy and shake to this playlist featuring songs that start with the letter S.

Sensory handwriting

Practice forming the letter S, and other squiggly lines, with some salt (or sand) on a tray.

*If you are interested in another multi-sensory way to practice handwriting, we recommend these boards from Etsy.

Play "Simon Says"

Use "S" action words such as:

  • Sit down, stand up, skip, smile
  • Slither like a snake, scooch along the floor
  • Stretch to the side, sneeze
  • Pretend to smell something stinky
  • Sway/swing your arms
  • Swish your hips, spin in a circle
  • Pretend to swim, pretend to sleep
  • Slide your back down a wall, sing a song
  • Spread your arms wide, skate across the floor

Don't forget to mix it up now and then by NOT saying "Simon Says!"

I’m blown away by how thoughtful and delightful these resources are!
"Since opening the package last night, M and N have each spent time reading it with A. The magic of the story itself is floating all 3 of my kids in different ways. I want every kid I know to have this and it would be a perfect holiday gift from grandparents - truly!"
*****
associated activities are amazing!
"They not only help my grandson see the relationship between an exciting subject and the real-world principles involved, but they also strongly personalize the experience for him. He learns that reading is fun, and that learning satisfies his natural curiosity."
