HOME:
Look around your home. What work needs to be done every day in a family? Who does that work?
BUILDINGS:
Explore some of the buildings you frequent. Who are the workers in your school, library, or grocery store?
COMMUNITY:
Locate the workers on your street, block, or city/town. Can you count how many different types of jobs are happening and how many workers you see? What would happen if those workers weren’t doing their jobs? For example, what if the sanitation workers didn’t pick up the trash?

Why Play This Way?
Use this activity as a launching point to identify and label the many jobs (and people) that participate in making your everyday life possible. Open your child’s eyes to the notion that there are workers everywhere! The more you acknowledge all the work that is happening around you everyday, the more you appreciate that all work is essential, important and deserves respect.
