Let's Play!

SET THE STAGE FOR PLAY: 10 Minutes

Adult Participation: Optional

Ready

Masking tape or painter’s tape (the wider the tape the better)

A table

A collection of small loose parts such as:

  • Shoelaces, buttons, barrettes
  • Cotton balls, Q-tips, toilet paper tubes
  • Paper scraps, string, rubber bands
  • Crayons, pom poms, pipe cleaners

Set

Turn your table upside down so that the legs face upward.

Attach a strip of tape on one table leg close to where it meets the tabletop. Twist the tape so that the sticky side is facing you.

Wrap the tape around to the next leg and repeat until you reach the leg you started on.

Repeat this process continuously, adding additional layers of tape to each leg in an upward direction.

Each wrap-around should add to the previous layer until you have four walls of sticky tape around all the legs.

Play!

Have fun sticking, arranging, and rearranging your small loose parts on your four new sticky walls.

You can create a new sticky surface by attaching several long lines of tape, sticky side out, to the wall at your little one’s height.

Secure the long lines with smaller pieces of tape on each end.

PLAY YOUR WAY! What else can you do with these open ended materials?

Looking forward to gifting these again!
"I have always gifted books at birthdays and these felt like a natural extension of the gifts I already give. It's nice to also be able to give my friends something that comes with additional activities they may not have thought to do."
