Lines & Rings & Cars, Oh My!

Why play this way?

Use tape as a vehicle for fine motor practice and to impose a subtle change in the environment that will help your little one see their play in a whole new way.

Always on hand, this simple addition introduces a special kind of novelty - something different, and open-ended that encourages imagination and exploration, leaving the child as the driving force in the play.

SET THE STAGE FOR PLAY: 5 Minutes

Adult Participation: Optional

Peel It

Stick a long strip of tape down to the floor leaving the last inch or so free.

Create a tab with your unstuck end by doubling it back on itself and bending it so that it stands up from the floor (almost like a pull tab).

Repeat this process until you have made several pull strips across your floor.

Get your pinching fingers ready, grab those tabs, and start peeling!

You can replicate this activity on a window, a wall, or even in a dry bathtub using different lengths of tape for different kinds of challenges.

Tape ring reacher

Make several rings of tape and attach them to the wall just out of your little one’s reach. Challenge them to stretch way up high to retrieve all of the tape rings.

Switch roles and have your little one do the sticking!

Make some more tape rings and stick them all around the house to extend this play even longer.

drive between the lines

Use your tape to make a road or two on the floor.

Add in your vehicles and vroom around.

Use blocks, or other household materials to add some buildings along your tape road.

Add more tape lines for sidewalks and take your stuffies on a stroll.

Use your tape to create individual parking spaces for your vehicles.

Create a tow truck by taping one car to another and then pulling it along your road.

PLAY YOUR WAY! How else can you use tape in your play?

Looking forward to gifting these again!
"I have always gifted books at birthdays and these felt like a natural extension of the gifts I already give. It's nice to also be able to give my friends something that comes with additional activities they may not have thought to do."
