About Face
Make faces with your tiny loose parts.
- Use a plate as a base to help give structure to the face or draw a face outline on a piece of paper.
- Take pictures of your loose parts faces and make a photo album.
- Look for “faces” in unusual places. Next time you are out for a walk, see if you can spot “faces” in everyday objects. You will be surprised at how many there are all around you!

Stick To It
- Use contact paper or long loops of inside-out masking tape to experiment with sticking your loose parts to a sticky surface.
- Create something more permanent by using glue so that you can save and display your loose parts art.

Why Play This Way?
Loose parts are the best! They can be found in a junk drawer, at the bottom of your bag, in your recycling bin, etc. These everyday treasures can be found just about anywhere! As natural explorers, children will love to arrange, line up and experiment with their loose parts. Not only that, but as they play, they will get to exercise their fine motor, social, mathematical and problem solving skills. When used with a friend, children will also enjoy an open-ended social adventure rife with possibilities. Best of all, your tiny loose parts collection can be re-sorted and packed up to be used again on another day for a whole new adventure.
